Briefing to Senedd Members on Political Deception
The ICDR has provided members of the Senedd with a briefing for its debate on proposals for new laws to crack down on political lying.
The briefing contains two key proposals for legislation - both of which give effect to the Senedd Standards Committee’s recommendations for:
Amendment to the Senedd (Conduct of Elections) Order to expand the existing prohibition on lies by election candidates; and
An administrative system to ensure that MS correct false statements of fact publicly.
